When choosing a cause for FlagRiser, we looked for an issue that was urgent, measurable, and globally impactful. Clean water stood out immediately. It is a basic human right, yet 2 billion people still lack access to safely managed water at home.

The Scale of the Crisis

The global water crisis is not just a developing world problem — it affects every country. Droughts, contamination, and poor infrastructure put entire regions at risk. The World Health Organization estimates that investing in safe water could save $4.3 for every $1 spent, thanks to improved health and productivity.

Why Water Changes Everything

Access to safe water improves education (children can attend school instead of fetching water), health (fewer preventable diseases), and economic development (families spend less on healthcare and are more productive).
